Lakeview Village {Custom} | Kitchen
A bright and inviting non-white kitchen
Not every bright and inviting kitchen needs to be white, and this custom built home in Lakeview Village is a prime example. When creating this beautiful space, we started with Luna White Quartzite for the countertops. A natural stone that resembles marble without the TLC needed. During the design phase, we selected a soft grey cabinet colour for the perimeter of the kitchen and paired it with a whitewashed custom stain for the white oak island, it really was the perfect compliment. To pull in more delicate details, we added a mini herringbone mother of pearl splash above the range top and polished nickel lighting and hardware throughout.
Details large and small are abundant throughout this home. Side cabinets creating a range alcove gives the clients the perfect spot to keep the oils and spices at their fingertips. The towering upper cabinets extend to the 10’ tall ceiling with a 4 piece custom crown design that finishes it off, and last but certainly not least is the island ends, an idea that came to us at 2am.
Knowing that the clients for this custom home love to entertain, we knew that incorporating a secondary dishwasher would come in handy for them. We decided on installing the second unit on the end of the island, closest to the sink. By opting for a unit that accepts a custom millwork panel, you will not only conceal the appliance but also avoid the fingerprints and drip marks that are very obvious on stainless steel. For the balance of the lower cabinets, we maximized the use of drawers, they are such efficient use of space in kitchens. We added a pullout trash can and recycling centre to the left of the sink and a tall lower cabinet for the homeowner's large charcuterie trays.
When designing any kitchen, we want to take into account all of the sightlines from every angle. This view from the space between the sink and the island doesn’t disappoint. This home sides onto one of the walking paths that are weaved all throughout Lakeview Village, so large windows were a must on the side elevation to flood the home in natural light during the day.
Below are a few of the beautiful elements that we incorporated into the kitchen design.
One of the best parts of designing and building custom homes in Calgary is we get to know so many amazing people that turn into clients and eventually dear friends. This family is another excellent example of that, and we are so honoured to be able to help them create spaces where they can raise their family and make lasting memories for years to come.
