Everything for the Mr.

We are so excited to be sharing our latest custom home that we designed and built-in Calgary, Springbank {custom}. Let’s start off with the lower level development, a basement retreat that was created just for the Mr. of the household. An open-concept space for him & all of the guys to hang out in.

Wine Room & Bar

With little natural light in the recreational room area, we incorporated a neutral 100% wool carpet and paired it with white trim and walls. This allows the features in the built-ins to take centre stage. All of the custom built-on-site millwork throughout was flat cut white oak and stained a rich colour that added warmth and depth. It was also the perfect complement to the honed black granite countertops on the wet bar, and the handcrafted iron doors that lead to the wine room.

A bevelled antique mirror backsplash was incorporated to reflect light and bring an airiness to the space. Paired perfectly with a unique faucet that compliments the simple yet elegant cabinet hardware.

The wine room was tucked between the entrance to the home gym and a secondary bedroom. We created a configuration that offers our clients a space to store and display their collection of wine. On each side of the chevron centre cabinet, we used these wine racks, which offer a lot of storage, 8 cases alone just on these racks!! Directly below an angled shelf for all of those special occasion bottles so they can take centre stage. 

Main Bathroom

He loves plaid, so I couldn’t think of a better way to incorporate it than with a plaid floor tile! A simple combination we created with 3 different 2x2 tiles. It not only helped keep this space from feeling too heavy with the floor to ceiling black stacked wall tile, but it is a bit unexpected and fun.

A sizeable built-in benchtop was added to the tub/shower area and topped with the same black honed granite that we used on the vanity top. This great little detail offers storage for towels and those pesky shampoo bottles that would typically clutter up the edge of the tub.

The solid surface top is a must for us, it offers way more durability than tiling the top of the bench or ledge in both shower and tub shower units, and well, it looks dang good.

I really hope that the Mr. and all of the guys who will be coming over to watch the games in this space will enjoy the large and small details we incorporated. I mean, men talk about design details, right?
