A beautifully treed acreage property tucked into Silverhorn in Bearspaw created the perfect setting for this custom home. The clients have a love for the outdoors and wanted to create a space that would seamlessly blend with the surroundings of the towering spruce and aspen trees that blanketed the 2-acre parcel. With a west exposure, the use of large scale windows would allow the view to becoming the artwork inside the home. Bringing nature inside was done through the use of organic materials in the house's main living areas. For instance, in the two-storey family room, the wood-burning fireplace was covered in locally sourced natural stone, and rustic alder beams were added to the vaulted ceiling. In the kitchen, honed marble slabs were used for the perimeter of the countertops, and walnut butcher block was fabricated for the island top. More natural stone was used in the outdoor living area. Another wood-burning fireplace is surrounded by it and positioned under a covered deck finished with stained cedar soffits, allowing the clients to enjoy this space rain or shine. Rustic wide-plank hickory flooring and antique mirror were some of the other stunning elements that we incorporated into the final design that exceeded the clients' expectations.
