Altadore 18th Street 2, the second infill home of three built side by side in this bustling Calgary community. This particular home was designed to have modern elements throughout, yet it still appeals to a traditionalist at heart. The glass railing on the open riser staircase is a beautiful focal point from every room on the main level, especially from the custom white kitchen. To add a sense of depth to the open floorplan, we incorporated a stained wood island, two-tone counter-tops and a lineal marble backsplash in the kitchen. The Viking gas range was tucked into an alcove that was finished with a double herringbone marble mosaic tile, pot filler, and open shelving on each side, keeping all of the chefs essential nearby when they are cooking up a storm. The large walk-in pantry tucked behind the range area offers extensive shelving and built-in beverage fridge, allowing the kitchen to stay clutter-free. It can be easily closed off with the pocket door that was incorporated. The added glass front cabinets also give the homeowners the perfect spot to display beautiful dishes and glass wear. Rustic wide-plank hickory flooring and a split face stone surround on the fireplace are traditional elements that were brought in to create warmth and texture.
