Wall & Window Details {Veranda Custom}

Main Colour

One of the most important decisions you'll make while building or renovating a home is selecting the perfect interior colours. In Calgary, where the weather can be harsh and unforgiving, choosing hues that will make your space feel warm and inviting year-round is crucial.

For the main colour in Veranda {Custom}, we used Benjamin Moore's China White. This shade has a subtle warmth that will make any space feel cozy and welcoming, even on the coldest of winter days here in Alberta when the snow is coming down. Additionally, China White has a timeless quality that will ensure your home remains stylish and on-trend for years to come.

In this home, we used China White for the ceilings, walls, and trim throughout the home. With a flat finish on the ceiling, eggshell on the walls, and a 40-degree sheen of lacquer on the trim the colour reads differently and plays off of the natural light coming into the home.

Windows & Doors

The interior of the windows throughout this home is constructed of wood, allowing us the flexibility to stain or paint them any colour. With this home surrounded by towering trees, we knew that staining them black would perfectly frame the exterior surroundings out of every window.

We opted for stain over paint to allow the grain of the wood to pop subtly, and other is the durability factor. In addition, the stain has more elasticity over paint or lacquer, which will wear better over time.

We used a 40-degree sheen lacquer for the interior passage doors, Benjamin Moore Black, nothing fancy, just the best solid black that pairs perfectly with any colour and stain!

We often get asked, 'Are they hard to keep clean' and I can assure you, they are. However, by selecting a lower sheen, fingerprints are not seen, and we love the contrast they bring. The black passage doors compliment the black-stained windows perfectly.

Home Office

With 16’ tall ceilings in this home office and three walls with large windows, we knew we could get away with a dark and moody colour, so let us introduce you to Flint by Benjamin Moore. This colour is a bit of a chameleon throughout the day which makes it a favorite of ours.

Wallpaper

So far this home has wallpaper in two areas of the home, more coming soon, but as they say, good things come to those that wait!

For the mudroom, we used To The Point by Kravet in stone, a stunning hand-blocked grasscloth that adds the perfect amount of whimsy to a space we use multiple times a day.

The laundry room features a beautiful mural from Romo Black Edition, Mizumi, something that still takes out breath away 3 years after it was installed.
