The stunning custom home is surrounded by towering aspen and pine trees on a private 20-acre parcel on the edge of Calgary’s city limits in Bearspaw, giving the clients a home that feels like a retreat when they end their busy days downtown working.
When we started the design phase of this luxury home, there were two features that the clients wanted to design the house around. First, a glass-lined feature hallway on the main level that faces east allows them to enjoy the most stunning sunrises every morning. The other detail was the glass walkway on the upper level that leads to a large home gym over a detached double-car garage. A juxtaposition in design with the modern elements paired with the steep roof lines brings a bit of unexpected detailing to the home.
The expansive black windows frame the exterior views from every room for the interiors. With complete privacy, the clients can watch the seasons change, deer, moose, and even bears walking through, and enjoy the natural light that floods the home throughout all times of the day. All the custom hand-built on-site oak millwork throughout the house was paired with the most beautiful marble imported from Italy. Additional detailing like alabaster lighting, finished on-site oak flooring, hand-forged stair railing, and multiple fireplaces bring cozy and organic elements that can be appreciated from every space.
