Organic materials and an abundance of storage

The mudroom and pantry in our latest home, Elbow Park Custom 4, located in Calgary’s Elbow Park is filled with beautiful organic materials and a ton of storage, which is ideal when you are designing a home for a young growing family!

The Mudroom

The incorporation of brick flooring was a must for this mudroom, and the herringbone pattern was an easy way to elevate the overall design in the space.

To create a softness within the mudroom, we stained the entrance door and window a light brown, which also plays off the benchtop and shelf above.

Unlacquered brass cup pulls and unique swivel hooks were fun additions to the custom cabinetry that will patina over time, giving the clients the organic details they were after for their new home.

And take a look at that heat vent next to the closet. You may have to look hard to see it, but these are by Aria Vents, and we love them! They are a great product that allows our tile selections to take centre stage rather than pesky heat vents that stand out.

The Pantry

With direct access from the mudroom, we wanted the spaces to flow yet be unique. We carried through the same wood tone for the countertop and unlacquered brass cabinet hardware. To elevate the space we did opt for a dramatic colour, a soft black for the cabinetry. The bonus of our custom built-on-site cabinetry is no colour is off-limits, so we do like to have fun with it when we can!

The pantry has a full-sized stainless steel freezer, built-in microwave, and an amazing combination of closed and open storage options. A taller cabinet at the end of the room is perfect to keep the Dyson close by but out of sight, and the addition of the pull out baskets, a client favourite in our homes, brings in a touch of warmth.

Both the mudroom and pantry at Elbow Park Custom 4 are stylish spaces of this elegant home that prove that a functional design can also be a beautiful design!
