A true modern farmhouse nestled on a large acreage just outside of Calgary in Bearspaw. The perfect family home surrounded by mature pine and aspen trees down a quiet secluded country road. Our clients initially came to us wanting to renovate the existing home on the property; while looking at the options along with the older structure, a decision was made to start from scratch. Starting with a blank slate allowed us to create a home that offered them soaring ceilings, in-floor radiant heat, larger garage space, and bigger windows that allowed them to capture the stunning landscape while watching their horses graze in the pasture at the back. When it was time to sit down and put pen to paper, there was one thing they knew they wanted from our very first meeting, a beautiful natural stone fireplace in the family room with wood beams on the ceiling and a built-in daybed. We used this as our starting point for the overall design, and it developed into a perfectly balanced family home with five bedrooms, a home office, a large gym, a wet bar and wine room. The use of rustic materials throughout the house, including knotty alder custom cabinetry and finished on-site wide plank flooring, helped create a welcoming and cozy retreat from the city after a long day at work.
